Making ARB bumpers great again. Phase 2, lower plate reinforcement.

Also that sunset makes that Dark Emerald pop. I’ve never seen it this green. Ignore my polish swirls. 🙄

I replaced the low side power steering lines with Parker push lock lines. Plan was to replace all the soft lines but after dealing with the 3/8 line from the reservoir to hard line on the frame I decided against it. If it leaks again I know which line it is this time.

Also replaced the worm gear clamps with the correct factory clamps.

I made the dumb decision to Replace both of the O2 sensors. Broke a rear stud. Lots of time, penetrating oil, mapp gas, and welding was involved. Not fun but All fixed now.
Denso #’s: 234-4153 and 234-4157, toyota O2 gaskets 89466-20020

Also installed some Polk 6501 component speakers. I used solvefunction mounts for the tweeters and he made some custom spacers for the doors. The spacers were necessary because the mounting pattern and generic speaker grill diameter is larger than the pioneers I had in before.

THis was my first time using Sem Monterey paint to match the oak interior. Seems like good paint. I can’t tell a difference between it and rustoleum bronze.

I was typing a bunch of blah blah about this combo ect ect blah blah. Let’s just let it speak for itself.

🙌

Cheers

Ended a bigboy maintenance session.

- Fixed the front end (neighbour reversed a van into the front) with panels and trim imported from Pakistan
- Rebuilt the front diff (now finally runs silent after it spun one of its bearings and HOWLED above 50mph)
- Replaced the fuel filler pipe so now I don't dump half a liter of diesel all over the forecourt every time I fill up (pipe also imported from Pakistan)
- Added a Center diff lock button on the dash for 4-hi CDL activities (not just 4-lo, UK spec models have no CDL button as standard)
- Fixed rust in wheel arch (completely cut out rear arch and welded in new arch imported from Pakistan) seam-sealed, primed, painted and sealed.
- Fixed small rust spot on one of the rear doors (sanded and painted)
- Replaced Leading arm + Panhard bushes with fresh polybushes (front axle is no longer at the mercy of the road camber) handles like a dream now.
- Fitted new front brake disks and pads (my own fault for letting my pads wear thin when I first got it)
- Fitted new front bearings
- New A/C dryer, pipe, and bracket after the front end was damaged from the neighbours van
- Fitted new leather upholstered gear knob (leather had peeled off the original) (also Pakistan import)
- General oils levels checks and a clean inside and out

Just gave the 31 year old truck some love.
(For anyone interested, Importing parts from Pakistan is the most affordable option for rust free parts for the UK, Pakistan is also a right hand drive country so parts don't need fiddling to fit. 80's are rare here so non-consumable parts are not readily available, most non-common parts are Pakistan, Aus, or US imports)

Finished up a small painting project to complete the interior. Luckily, grey (B0) interior pieces are still available from Toyota.
Wow! Where did you get your replacement wood trim from? My switches look atrocious.
Really good work, and really good to know the grey trim is still available!(I will have to have a look myself)
(also very jealous of your branded floor mats)

Went and spent a morning looking for some elk and stopped at a local media printing business and purchased a piece of flexible magnet material to cover my leaky sunroof 🤣 🤣

Got the “fast flash” when using the right turn signal.

Started with the easy stuff. New rear bulb (as that indicator stopped working). Nope.

Pulled out the multimeter. Was getting .5-1.5v… at the ts bulb bracket.

Pulled the quarter panel covers and dug into the wiring.

Po had left a mess (not horrific, but not fun to work through).

Replaced with oem.

And, while I was in there, I pulled the harness that runs across the rear end of the truck (it had been hacked up for trailer wiring… po work) and replaced with an unmolested oem harness.

Tested. No more fast flash.

Buttoned everything back up and drove the old girl to work
Today.

@Old Nick Nice work, I'm a Neanderthal when it comes to electric/wiring.
Thank you, brother. I’m no expert either! But, patience (and reading a lot of old threads here on Mud) sure helped.

Basic multimeter and the FSM will get you through it.

Honestly, I used to farm all electrical stuff out to a good buddy who owns a shop locally, but the cost of that versus jumping right in and at least giving it a go were so big, that now, I always try to tackle stuff like that at home.

And now… my ABS light came on… 🤣 so more tinkering in my near future.

Thank you Phil.
www.wooddash.com is the distributor and website that I sourced the kit from. You can choose real or faux burlwood.
