Weekend at Badlands- first big trip with it. Couldn’t be happier. Some little things, but all the hours in the garage over the winter really paid off!!

Found some wiring that seemed useless, also an ABS/ LSPV delete and power antennae removal. Working on getting the Ham installed, CB and a newish stereo

First good day for a trail run up on Larch Mountain in Washington.

I’m the only 80 series in the group 👍
Filmed from my Wolfang GA200 4k “action cam”, and edited by me.

I haven’t done any editing in a long time…probably could have cut some more fat off, but, eh. I had fun compiling everything.

The others played in the mud at the end 👍

I used to live in Battleground back in the early ‘80s. I haven’t seen Larch Mtn in yrs. I used to love hunting and wheeling up there. Thanks for sharing your footage.

@CharlieS has a 94 model which has a completely different headliner than the 95-97. I would not recommend messing with the headliner on 91-94 models.
He didn’t mention the year of his 80 to me, but if he has the cloth headliner with the bows and he is going to be welding roof holes (which I don’t recommend) then it’s a good idea to drop the headliner in the section he is welding. But that involves removing all the windows to properly remove it, that’s why I suggested filling or plugging the roof holes.

Been wanting to test fit these widened FJC Steelies.
And I’m quite happy with myself! 😂 These balanced up and took less weight than some previously ran fancy wheels.View attachment 3283108View attachment 3283116

Steelies look nice, exactly what I’m looking for. Excuse my dumbness but what is the advantage of widened steelies?

Did you buy or make the widened steelies?

Thanks

Received my tweeter pods today from @Outsane Solvefunction. Man, these things are beasts!

Perfect fit for the Kicker KS tweeters.

Drilled the access hole out a little bit and installed a grummet that I happened to have. Was able to easily fish the wire down to the speaker area..

Running the Kicker KS series 6.5 component speakers full active using a Kicker Key 200.4 amplifier. Initially, I had the amp tuned with the speaker’s setup as coaxial. I plan to retune the amp this weekend as I need to pull the head unit and make changes to the wiring.

Just a short listening session with the current tune, I am really impressed with how the sound stage changed by simply moving the tweeters. Can’t wait to let the amp dsp do its thing.
Where did you install the Kicker Key 200.4 amplifier? Thanks!

Rear pinion seal changed due to leak.
Underneath so I grabbed my trusty Snap-On fav wrenches.
5 u-joint nuts loose and all 8 knuckle nuts loose!
Knuckle nuts were locktite installed also🤷‍♂️

I like your vintage stripes.
Those 37" TSL/SX right?
Very interesting red 80 behind you... cut chopped & a jeep grill, a FJC grill would be slick also.
Do you have any info on the red 80?

Started getting ready for carpet this weekend, next weekend full kit going in from @dnp 👍🏼

Doing some general maintenance as well. Basic filters, oil, u joints.

Does anyone know if the factory air cleaner housing has gaskets normally? Where the air filter goes?

Thank you! Stripes are something the girlfriend and I did one afternoon after a trip to hobby lobby. 37x14.50 SXIIs on Methods. Very happy with how they worked, still breaking in. Had them down to 8# front, 6# rear to get them to flex as that was the first real weekend out with them. Just some minor tweaking here and there still on mine.

The red one is @halffzj80, not sure if he has anymore pics on here, but I have a few on my phone I can post. He did a really nice job on the cut and tube work. Its unreal how much better it "works" compared to mine. It is a aftermarket FJC grille, but he had talked about swtiching out the stock FJC grille. Its really crazy though how much cutting it made it so much more nimble. Im still full interior, etc, but his was a fricken billy goat losing all the weight in the rear. Its stock gearing, and suspension.... so far. Not sure what his plans are for it next. There was a lot of talk and ideas thrown around over the weekend......

These are by far my favorite wrenches for the Cruiser. That whole set is good, but those 2 are awesome
