What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (75 Viewers)

Fixed my ABS and Check Engine Light on my '94! Using the jumper in the OBD1 port, the codes it spat out were ABS code #31 - Front right wheel speed sensor (ended up being a short in the harness) and CEL codes: #21- Oxygen Sensor and #28 - No 2 Oxygen sensor.

Sourced two replacement Toyota/Denso oxygen sensors Denso part number 234-4520 thanks to other members on this forum who identified the suitable replacement. In the replacement process however I found that one of the female pin connectors on the vehicle/engine harness had corroded beyond repair. Thanks to the Toyota connector manual here on mud and my local stealership, I was able to buy and replace the oxygen sensor housing connector 90980-11178 and replace the one bad pin with terminal repair part 82998-12440 that comes with a 6" pigtail. I did not realize these terminal repair pieces were available and was a huge relief to solder in one replacement lead instead of replacing large pieces of a wiring harness or searching for OEM crimpers and pins.

After way longer than it should have taken, everything was soldered, heat shrunk and weather proofed.

Feels good to have those addressed. Thanks all for the support!

quuuuiiiiiiiiiick question:
I am doing the passenger side knuckle rebuild.

I am working on re-installing the knuckle arm, and the "wings" should be oriented torwards the motor? AKA what is the orientation of the knuckle arm?
The OTRAMM video is for drivers side, and the other videos I have looked a
My google searches did not lead me far.

Got a steal of a deal on this AOE front bumper from a fellow mudder but it had some Knicks and rust starting in several places... some of which was not so surface rust. Got that taken care of and putting a gloss black coat using the rust oleum professional grade enamel.

kinda cold and humid (for CA anyway) so ill wait the full 24 hours before additional coats

Yes, towards the motor/centerline of vehicle.

I don’t typically care too much about how many gallons of gas I use, but I must say on my short trip today it was rather remarkable. Right at 19 miles per gallon. I didn’t know better, I would think my valves might be a little bit tight.

That’s a pretty good match what tint did you use? I’ve been holding off as I don’t want a poor match with the reflective rear windows.
I used Lexen Film. I tinted my 100 and it came out great so I went ahead and did the 80. They sell precut kits that are much easier to work with. I think I paid 60 bucks for the whole kit and it's ceramic film. Great heat reflecting also.

I got that kind of MPG once coming north out of Yellowstone and it was freaking me out. I was thinking my gas gauge was broken...turned out I just had a really good tailwind. :)

Did your 80 have the factory bronze tint to begin with?

Pulled the ac/heater unit out to replace the dirty buttons:

A few of the buttons were out of stock when I ordered so I'm missing some which drives me bananas, but needed to at least get started. Realistically if you're going to do this, you can remove the buttons without taking the whole unit out. Just pry gently on the lower and upper portion of the button and it will just pop off.

Oh, also replaced my horn plate so now I can honk at the a-holes in Denver traffic. It helps having a new steering wheel:

Nice. I need to replace some buttons on my HVAC panel and get some LEDs in there to replace the original light bulbs.

My HVAC panel is bad too, almost have to put a blanket over my head to see the lights... LOL!!!

so I ended up figuring out why those were installed.

Tires rub on frame when they are removed (as I found out today)
They are rubbing on the rear frame rails while on the road, tires are at 33 PSI, no issues with steering clearance (so far)

wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

Also rebuilt 1 knuckle this weekend (the busted stud one)

The adjustable panhard is at ~42 inches, would adjusting that properly after installing the delta lift bracket help the rubbing issue?

It depends. If the axle is off center then yes. If the axle is centered. No.
