Decided to tackle the power seat gears on the drivers side today. I also have a clunk in the seat under acceleration and braking. Not a lot, just enough to be annoying. Did a search here and some pointed to the gears. I had ordered a full set from Gamiviti so figured I'd dig in and get it done.

First step was to wait for a break in the rain and yank the seat. Good opportunity to vacuum where the seat was.

On disassembly I find this little screw.

Somebody has serviced this chair before it appears. And low and behold, thank goodness I watched the Gamiviti youtube video and did the passenger seat first because whoever did the work forgot to put in the back washers. I might have missed that if I hadn't watched the video and done the other seat.

I grabbed one of the front washers and headed to the hardware store. An hour later I'm home and many of you are probably already ahead of me here. Yup, I forgot that the rear washer is slightly larger than the front washer. In fact, it's very precise to be able to fit over the splines but not over the main shaft in the back. I drilled out the washers I bought and installed it all and no more clunk. Going to be much better from here on out.

Taking my time but cleaned off 15 years of grime while rebuilding this knuckle. It took 4 days of soaking in the parts washer to get the old gasket to lift off. The home stretch was a brass wire brush. Last pic was last week when I began my journey

Did some rust preventative maintenance. So nice to have a lift and really just coat underneath like there's no tomorrow. Got inside the rockers really good too. Then had to tear apart this Farmall 240 that I recently put a ring gear, clutch and pressure plate because the springs holding the fingers of the pressure plate flew off. Fun times!

Replaced high pressure PS hose (junkyard score to replace aftermarket POS that was pinch bent at the hardline on the banjo bolt, new crush washers too), PS reservoir and both hoses, and the hose between the steering box and the paper clip (OEM Toyota from a Previa, based on searches here on MUD). Fixed 2 very minor leaks at the banjo bolt and that Previa pre-formed hose. No pictures because I was trying to finish up before the USC / UCLA game, and in the rush to finish fired up the rig with the reservoir lid off and huge fn mess all over the garage and engine compartment, lots of pink ATF mikshake everywhere. Settled in, bled the system correctly this am. A roll paper towels and degreaser later, very clean now but damn. At least the Trojans pulled out the W, Fight On!

Made a quick run to Rausch for a weekend of wheeling and hanging out in the woods before the snow. Was a pleasure to catch up with some old and new friends alike on here.

I received some seat 😍 from @Gamiviti. Okay, lets do this!

Now the drivers seat works great. WORD of wisdom - If your seats have been jacked up for a while, or you don't know the condition, I recommend ordering the WHOLE set of parts. Turn out the drivers seat took BOTH gears, so I'm sending Gamiviti more $$ to get additional gears for the passenger side. C'est la vie.

I did the opposite. Ordered the whole kit and found the drivers side was already done. Oh well, now I have extras. Too bad you aren't local, I could fix you up quicker than waiting for shipping.

No worries. This truck isn't moving anytime soon anyway. Waiting on some other stuff to arrive. The battle continues!

No need to get it perfect it's a rock crawler, Just need to get it close enough for the new tail light to fit and shoot some color match paint on there.

Looks like you would benefit from a bumper with some side protection

No doubt, I made the bumper and I would like to add some side protection, at this point I am just tired of buying tail light.
But as you can see some of the damage is pretty hi up any protection that hi is just going to bend into the body anyhow 🤷‍♂️
I will be work on something soon, at least something to protect the lights. ( on my third set :bang: )
