Smogged the ole girl today. Added some e85 to an empty tank and she passed with flying colors. It’s always nerve wracking waiting for the results!

Nice! I was nervous getting my newly purchased truck smogged here but it also passed. I'm also happy that vehicles older than 24 years don't require smogging in Texas, so I shouldn't have to worry anymore. :D

Looks great! Process?

Needle scaler, wire brush on die grinder, POR15 and top coat with flat black quality enamel.

Cheers

Did you have to modify the tow hitch to do this, or was it as simple as flipping it?

So, it is slightly narrower than the frame rails. I used the brackets and some extra metal I had to space it out from the frame and make it solid.

New Steering Gearbox
New rear U-Joints
New tie rod end
Replaced alternator belts
Replaced rear brake pads
Resurfaced rear brake rotors
Replaced all fluids

The replacement of the two rear u-joints eliminated a terrible vibration that I was getting at all speeds. I'm amazed at how smooth it is now!

My old steering gearbox was leaking so it was replaced with a remanufactured one. This, along with a new tie rod end, fixed the play I had in the steering.

The previous owner used cogged belts which were quite loud, so I replaced them with OEM ones. Much quieter.

Here's a picture of my most recent off-road time for your enjoyment

Decided to tackle the power seat gears on the drivers side today. I also have a clunk in the seat under acceleration and braking. Not a lot, just enough to be annoying. Did a search here and some pointed to the gears. I had ordered a full set from Gamiviti so figured I'd dig in and get it done.

First step was to wait for a break in the rain and yank the seat. Good opportunity to vacuum where the seat was.

On disassembly I find this little screw.

Somebody has serviced this chair before it appears. And low and behold, thank goodness I watched the Gamiviti youtube video and did the passenger seat first because whoever did the work forgot to put in the back washers. I might have missed that if I hadn't watched the video and done the other seat.

I grabbed one of the front washers and headed to the hardware store. An hour later I'm home and many of you are probably already ahead of me here. Yup, I forgot that the rear washer is slightly larger than the front washer. In fact, it's very precise to be able to fit over the splines but not over the main shaft in the back. I drilled out the washers I bought and installed it all and no more clunk. Going to be much better from here on out.
It's the little things that can bring such a sense of satisfaction eh?
