Get her on here! The forum needs more female representation, hopefully she will last longer then the other ladies that get on here then disappear after a couple months! I don't want to mention any names....but why you guys scaring away all the lady LC owners??

I hide ih8mud.com from my wife. I would rather her find porn along with 3 mistresses simultaneously than this place. And if she ever came on here I would pay a bunch of members to make sure she leaves. Why? Because I get everything on sale dirt cheap and other members keep giving me free stuff and every thing I bring home for the cruiser comes from a junk yard. She can never find out :flipoff2:

Had a fun little chain of events yesterday. First off I picked up a new Group31 battery to use an my primary battery. Deka Intimidator 9A31. Heard lots of good feedback on these so giving it a go.

Then the fun happened. On the drive home yesterday I had my window down (even though it was still chilly out) and I started hearing a loud flapping sound like the sound of a plastic grocery bag caught on something under the truck. I figured that's all it was but pulled off the highway just to check. When I stopped I noticed I was leaking fluid badly. Didn't take long to find the problem.

A belt had shredded was the first problem. taking a closer look it turns out that a small rock had been deflected and wedged into the groove of the pulley (total fluke right?) and the rock is what caused the belt to come apart. The best wrapped itself around the fan clutch shaft and was whipping around (flapping noise) and the flailing cut one of the coolant lines on the lower radiator for the heater. The leaking fluid was coolant.

Couple of fortunate things. First off, had I not had my window down I wouldn't have heard it and just kept driving and possibly lost all cooling. Secondly, I had just purchased new belts a couple days ago to go in the parts box for Cruise Moab next week. My son drove to where I was with the new belts and we picked up a new hose. Changing belts in a parking lot is always fun, right? Actually, what could have been much worse ended up a pretty simple fix. Now all new belts and a new hose. :)

I bet you are glad it didnt take out the radiator. Also Glad you were not in a remote area!

I was thinking the other day what would happen if one of the belts failed. Mine, OEM, have about 40,000 on them. I have set to replace the but just dont have time before i head out on a trip to Yellowstone for 5 months. Figure i will just bring them and change them ASAP. Just makes me nervous. I am usually super strict on PM.

I changed both my diff oils and went to drain the transfer case. Decided to check my records. Full synthetic in the transfer with only 20,000 miles on it. Wont be draining that. But it did make me think that i want to go back to dyno oil. I would rather change it more often and make sure i am not getting any water or anything in it. Sacrey to me to not open the transfer case for 3 years or so with synthetic.

Just finished up rear brake pads OEM's only lasted 8 months and 20,000 miles? Not sure if that's good or not! Try one more set then maybe some of those green stuff pads everyone's talking about!!!!

I don't tell my wife what I spend on Land Cruisers (and anything Land Cruiser related) and she doesn't ask. She doesn't care. She's cool like that.

She's a wife. This means she gathers all sorts of data when you are not watching. They lure you into a false sense of security and you start to think she doesn't notice how many boxes were delivered last week. She knows and she remembers and one day the truth will out.....

I'd say you have brake system issues. Rear pads should last WAY longer than that. Maybe there is a balance issue and your front brakes aren't doing enough work?

Mine is the same way. As long as financially everything is good she doesn't really care. We keep our finances separate but i do make a lot more than she does. I just bought a set of Radflo shocks. So it would be kind of a douche bag move on my part to drop $1500 on shocks and then tell her no to something that she wants that she does not have the money for. She is super low maintenance and a athlete so most of the things she wants but sometimes cant afford will be something like a $100 race swimming suit or running shoes. So i try to make sure she has what she wants and then i get what i want. We are both happy. She does not really care what i spend my money on, but it would not be wise for me to tell her "we dont have the money" when it is something simple or small she wonts right after i drop $1500 on shocks. To me it is just courtesy and respect, it feels good to keep her happy and she is easy to keep happy. her "needs" are just as important as my "needs".

I add things to my amazon wish list and she buys them for me. ;)

I love the reverse logic here. My bet is that you leave the PC logged with this on the screen so she can see it....:flipoff2:

She was with me the day I picked up my 80 back in 1992. She doesn't care. Just the other day she said she needs "new big tires like yours" on her 80.

She's never gone without. Never will. I always make sure she's happy first. <Insert sexist comment about how I just bought her a new vacuum here>.

But seriously, I don't drink, play golf, or anything else. I buy Land Cruisers. Ok, I fish and hunt but that's quality time with my son!

Drove ~250 miles Thursday night to Marysville, CA.

Saw some cool stuff Friday--the U2s at Beale AFB and a car belonging to one of the auto instructors at Yuba College.
