Hmmmm, my wife adds things to my wish list and makes me buy it lol. Since we share an account she also gets notifications with every order. I'm going to have to sneak a light bar in with an order for a bunch of baby stuff :)

Totally rookie mistake!

I have three accounts, one we share, one for Wits' End and one I use for cruel practical jokes that I don't want my wife knowing about nor want on the books. :P

Finished the wheel painting project, finishing knuckle service and installation of RCV shafts, trail gear bearing lock nut and ARP studs. And replaced all three engine isolators.

Loaded it up with the mountain bikes and went for a ride with my son and my dog. She got to stay home all week as I drove my FJ40 to work. Its perfect 40 driving weather here in the normally hot nutsac. (Sacramento) cheers fellas its partake time.

Tested my trailer wiring harness in prep for a trip tomorrow. Only lights that worked were the tail lights. No hazards, brake or turn signal lights.

I have never towed with it before and PO said he had not either. I pull the passenger inside panel to see what I've got and turns out to be a Lexus factory taillight converter (5 to 4 wire). all neatly installed with no spliced wires. Just plug and play.

No frayed wires or obvious problems. All connections solid. All lights work on the truck so out comes the multimeter. Getting proper voltage before the converter but not after. It looks port or dealer installed and had a tag on it with a '97 date. I'm guessing the converter crapped out after all these years.

Anyone experienced this before? Are these still available or do I have to go aftermarket? Pic of the offending black box

Nice!!

I'll be doing this next week....where u get those grease fittings?...factory ones?
My fittings came with the joints I ordered from Cruiser Outfitters.

Those look nice - did you post the details of your prep/paint process anywhere?
Have not documented that process anywhere as I just finished today. I have a build thread but it gets dusty and rusty because I don't update it very well.

The wheels didn't turn out as well as some I have seen photos of. I started off with 24 year old wheels that had already been beaten mercilessly on the Rubicon several times (gouges, scratches, nicks). Getting the paint down in the recessed areas is a bit challenging. It's all covered but is somewhat textured in the low lying areas. Don't know what I could have done to avoid this.

I wasn't expecting show quality as my 80 gets wheeled and these wheels will sustain more damage first trip out anyway.

Basically I cleaned them really well with muriatic acid and scotchbrite first. A lot of very solid crud builds up in the wheel bead area. Next I uses those flexible sanding pads in medium grit to roughen the factory clear coat, wiled them down with acetone, duplicolor clear primer/adhesion promoter and then 4 coats of duplicolor graphite wheel paint and a coat of clear.

There is a lot of info on Mud and elsewhere about painting wheels.

Went to Australia. Reminded me of how much the LC is engrained in culture vs here in the states.

Also: met the guy behind www.bogout.com - great addition to a winch, especially for backing out of a bad situation. Also: great alternative to a winch for those saving $$$ for winch and bumper. Told the guy he could kill it selling bogouts in America. He said he's currently looking for a partner in USA.
