i bought it last fall but there were a few things it needed before i took it. it took 8 months to get some of the parts😳. the truck in 4th ran at 100km/hr with EGTs in the mid 800s (F). pretty happy with that

I don't know what language you're speaking but that's a nice looking truck.

I discovered this, much to my dismay. No sheet metal left under the bubbled paint. So I have three options. Source a good used tailgate (none around here and $400+ plus freight to get one here), have a body shop fix it to the tune of I'm sure a lot more than I have, or do a repair step by step over the course of the summer until I finally have it welded and blended good enough for new paint. The third option will likely be what happens since money is (always) tight....

Put another one back on the road, just can’t let them die

Step 1, get those unnecessary roof items out of the way

Step 2, get it running after being rolled then sitting for 5 years

Step 3 take it on a test drive

Step 5 don’t stop on this test drive and run it the 700 miles home back to Kansas City

It was Monday so here’s your mural 🤷‍♂️, think Charlie can fix it all up bahahah

Indirectly related to my 60, but with the help of Casey (@POTATO LAUNCHER ), completed the “Uncle Keith” trailer build repurposing my old 45 bed. This will go behind my 60 and ironically enough, the 60 frame under the trailer came out from my 60 when I built it several years ago (bent front section from hitting a culvert). Casey fabbed up the tongue basket and tire carrier creating a much more balanced look. The 45 bed is much longer behind the axle which looked way out of balance. For those that don’t know Casey or witnessed his fabrication skills, they are in a league of their own. He’s booked out on work but took the time to do this for me. Truly grateful for this. Some before and after shots of his work. Oh yea...and he’s a master at wiring up lights. He was able to get the factory housings wired up so I no longer need the boat trailer lights from tractor supply :) View attachment 2696979

Just did the same, but also got an evaporator, expansion valve, and pressure switch. Gonna get it all hooked up in the next couple of weeks. Very glad to see this stuff is all available and pretty easy to get.

Hoping my Evaporator still good. Whats the Expansion Valve and pressure Switch all about?

These two things inside the air box that houses the evaporator. If you aren't messing with that, then I wouldn't worry about them. But, if you're already taking the box out and replacing the evaporator, it's another ~$70 in parts and probably worth it.

@LazarusTaxa I just ordered a bunch of this stuff also.....I don't want to confuse anyone here, but I thought the Expansion Valve is Denso Part # 475-0101?
I did not know about the pressure switch, so I'll probably order one, Thanks!

Yeah, it's still available from Toyota as well, so I got the OEM version. I expect though that Denso is the mfg and they're the same part...

Took the 60 to my Crater Lake property to start construction on my bathroom project. Almost finished on the pumphouse for the well pump system. What a great time getting away from it all.

Dropped a new Carby on the 62. (Aussie delivered fj62 3F - not injected!).
Not as straightforward as I had hoped.
There were some vacuum lines on the old carby that the new one didn't have, so we had to swap in the old base to the new carby.
Then the new carby wasn't flowing fuel, so we had to take the top cover off and play inside.
Didn't find anything wrong, so put it all back together, and guess what? It works fine now.
Only adjustment needed was to the idle, other than that it is running sweeter than it ever has.

One thing off the standard long 60 series list of things to be done...

Getting very close to having Cascade Cruiser and Mud member campouts for those interested. N. Entrance to Crater Lake National Park is 30 minutes away. The old East Entrance which is closed is 15 minutes and a 1/2 mile hike to the Pinnacles. @RredFJ40

I'm adding a spal 10" pusher fan and a Davies Craig fan controller. I'm not relying on this to help the engine coolant temps. They are in control but the ac really falls off at idle after a few mins. This is similar to what certain rest of world 80 series got. Besides this, I'm looking to add some ceramic UV blocking tint once I find new inner window felts.

I'll space the condenser line up with a 1" spacer and seal the fan to the radiator with some dense foam. This controller also allows me to easily add another fan. I could fit a 6" fan on the other side.

Summit Racing fan controller

This is the fan controller. It was really simple and it uses a temperature contact probe, but I can also swap it for a coolant temp sensor.

I'm using this thread as a reference.
