I noticed the brake on my winch wasn't holding when we were trying to straighten Rance's tie rod at Harlan. Did a rebuild on the gearbox and installed a new brake assy. My winch was so old it required a special kit to convert it to their more current brake design. The gearbox was full of old grease, dirt, and brake dust. Now it free spools like a new winch. One thing I didn't know until getting into this is that when you power feed the line out the motor is driving with the brake applied. So every time you do that it is wearing away the brake.

Changed the oil and plugs. Fired her up a few times and let idle. Long enough to learn that she will idle until warm. Then dies. Will only run with foot in throttle after that. Will instantly die when throttle is released. That's as far as I made it this weekend. Going to check vacuum reading when running and see what happens when it dies. Will go from there. But so far the fuel supply has been great and no leaks to report. I guess I was successful with the tank install.

Progress! I can't wait to get mine back together so I can see if I can get mine running good.

Small window of weather tomorrow and I'm going to try and paint the tub and some other pieces. I put up the canopy this morning and primed a few more pieces. I just finished wet sanding the last piece. I'm so tired of sanding... I hope it all works out tomorrow and it isn't too windy.
