Home with wife after her surgery yesterday. She was up to helping bleed brakes on the 69.

drivers rear pretty dirty compared to others making me suspect there was leak there but no fluid anywhere.

Bled em, still have to pump brake to get pressure but only 2-3 times compared to 5-6 before.

Not ideal but just need enough to be able to stop when pulling onto trailer.

May do it again if my helper up to it.

She looks thrilled!

@Pighead “Secretly, I'm going to drive around with the shoes slightly engaged and then try to slow the Pig to a stop using just the emergency brake...

Well that’s’ great…you know it’s no longer a secret?
Shh!!!

That was my first thought. I probably could have, and gotten away with it. I don't know how long that crack has been there, coulda been years.
But, the weather is great, there's plenty of time before Rubithon. I got shade, a big toolbox and internet. Why not do a decent job now instead of doing it on a trail in the rain later on. Sorta routine maintenance every 50 years or so. I ain't complaining.
You probably could have gotten away with it, if it weren't for those pesky kids and their meddling dog!

Now that you have a spare are you going to send that one out for a little aluminum welding?

You can clean the shoes w/ acetone. Maybe scuff them w/ a wire wheel if they look glazed?
yeah I am gping to tinker with the cable adjustment on the firewall first to see if that might do it. but yes , they look glazed IIRC.

Nice playhouse you have there…

Prospective local buyer for Clyde’s original engine and tranny, slapped some simple green on it and followed up with water.

Gonna clean up nicely for over 50 year old engine.

Very cool! haven't see an oil filler cap in that orentation.. Maybe that was another unique feature on the 69. Most have the filler hole on the valve cover. The value of this thing keeps going up!

Looked up serial number of engine on SOR, best I could come up with is it was made somewhere around 7-8/69

That is actually the birthplace of Kermit. Jim Hensons hometown of Leland, Mississippi has small museum there which was a fun 20 minutes. Brought back many memories. Just south of Clarksdale.

After 2 days soaking as many bolts with kroil I started removing bolts starting with brake lines.

So far so good except left knuckle had one with maybe 1/4 rotation available. It took forever!!!

Gonna save all the hardware I can, clean up and save in case ever needed.

Sons german shepherd (gypsy) here and was trying to help chase any reflection the wrench threw around.

I’ve seen them referred to as GSD but I too would have still been clueless
