Emptied it out, filled it up. Trying to travel lighter this year.

First thing I did at the trailhead, took off my mirrors. I brought a box for them this time, packed with old rags, newspapers and even a piece of bubblewrap. Shoulda remembered a ziploc for the screws. Next time...

Next, made a garbage bag. I take this seriously. I double-bag it and use too much baling wire. Threading it through both bags many times. Then, I get my littlest bungee cord and make it look like it's holding the bag up...

And then; changed the fuel filter. Pig told me it was time. I pulled over at a wide spot and banged the (plastic) filter against the frame a few times and told Pig I'd change it in camp, 7 more miles. No problem after that. Old filter doesn't look so bad but Pig's the boss.

I drove it on the Rubicon Trail. In a run consisting of four 80s and a built 40. The Pig did well, didn't break anything and made some hard spots look almost easy. 80s drivers were suitably impressed. We made Loon to Buck in 6 hours, with an hour to figger out how best to fix a flat tire, pretty darn good time for Wagons.
Hardly any pics 'cause my hands are busy driving.

Epic!

What I did to my Pig today is a long story about a short drive. I passed on continuing with the wagons due to leave time/sleep schedule conflicts. Fell in behind Cruiser run 2, which, to my surprise, had 2 of the FJ Cruisers that I like so bad. My first job was to tug one up a little climb, about 30 feet from where I camped. The climb out of Buck was the hardest I've ever seen it, and as soon as we were up we dropped down into Big Sluice. Which wasn't that bad until I started having carb (probably) problems. Engine was dying at low RPMs. Wouldn't start unless I was in gear. Only happened when I was nose down steeply. Ran fine uphill and on the levels.
Made it into camp though, I've got a couple days to figure it out. The trail out is Cadillac Hill and it's uphill mostly, so I got that.

Carnage-wise, maybe a couple new wrinkles in the rear quarters, I did hit my new rear diff cover and chipped the paint, dinged a rear brake caliper (no idea how) and now what's this dripping on my rear tire?! It's thick and black and slippery, reminds me of 90wt...

Have fun Friday night ( open bar ) more pics
Yeah, no. I skipped Marauder bar. I'm camped at Dirty Dozen, next to Peesalot. It's a long, rocky walk to main camp. Doable when it's light out and I'm fairly sober, doing that hike at night, while sheetfaced is a recipe for a broken hip.
I did carb work all day yesterday and some today. Think it's running better now.
Carb pics are kinda boring but here ya go.

Yikes Carb fix on the CON !!!!!! I take my hat off to you Pighead , Keep that 55 alive !

After 2 days soaking as many bolts with kroil I started removing bolts starting with brake lines.

So far so good except left knuckle had one with maybe 1/4 rotation available. It took forever!!!

Gonna save all the hardware I can, clean up and save in case ever needed.

Sons german shepherd (gypsy) here and was trying to help chase any reflection the wrench threw around.
