What did you do to your pig today?

I drove it up Cadillac Hill, to finish off the Rubithon. Sorta had to, couldn't stay there. Ready or not off I went. Still with the stalling issue. Took off the fuel cap, it ran better. Still not great. but then, came upon a small group of 40s pulled over off the trail. Guy came up to me, he thought I might have some knuckle studs and cone washers. I did. A nice heat-sealed plastic bagged set of 4 studs, cone washers, lock washers and nuts. Just as they had come to me from @cruiseroutfit a few months ago for me to carry for just exactly this type of situation. Naturally he asked how much I wanted for them, "Pshaw" I said, and looked embarrassed that he would even ask. "bring me some replacements next year". Pig ran great after that. Must of been overdrawn on my Karma account. Silly me.
Fortunately, I had arranged for a trailer at the staging area. Fortunate because as soon as we loaded we noticed a brake line leak and a bit of a ding in the rear driveshaft. I'll investigate more closely tomorrow.

I H8 to jinx it by saying it out loud, but I've not yet had knuckle problems on the Pig, and I had course spline birfs that first Pigs on the 'Con in 2000. I check my knuckle studs, top AND bottom often enough, knuckles and studs are stock but I do have the Bobby Longs and I kept the straight six. If I had a V8 I'd bust more stuff I'm sure. That Frombe steer busts more passenger side knuckles than anything else. and I drive like an old man and always take the easy line.

“I drive like an old man and always take the easy line.”

He says about taking a 50 year old rig onto the Rubicon. It’s okay to humble brag a little! Haha

Yeah, but I always do that. This time the Rubicon kicked my butt pretty well. I barely made it on to the trailer. So I'm making a list and only have a year to fix it. Dropped the skidplate, plenty of oil on it so I'll be pulling the parking brake drum again. Rear driveshaft is off, it was just starting to develop the little ridges that were looking like it was ready to candy-cane, was going to put on my trail spare driveshaft but it's pretty dinged up too. Taking them both to the driveshaft shop tomorrow. Gotta fix the brake line leak, should probably run new brake lines. If I'm gonna make new brake lines I should plumb in a Line-Lok or two and quit worrying about the stock parking brake.

Headliner looks great!
Thank You! It really wasn't that difficult to do.

We took a couple of short cuts and removed the A and B pillar material for now. Planning on doing spray adhesive and foam backing later.

Well done. Did you take out rear cargo windows to do this?
Thanks! Yes, I removed the cargo windows, windshield also. Then with them out, I put on some dark window tint and new gaskets.

Did you diy the windshield install? How did it go?
Yes, I have done 40's before. I roped it in from the top to the bottom to keep the rope pressure off of the glued in place headliner.

Nice job! Did the local Office Depot have to restock those clips?
Thanks! LOL Amazon
If anyone needs some for a headliner job, pay for shipping and they are yours. Haha

Did you paint or have any rust to address before the windshield or was this proj, post complete paint job? I am sitting on a box almost complete car rubbers and curious what your process was.

As of right now, I will never do a full restore on this rig. I love the patina and most of the dents. I call her a rescue.

When I get to spot that has rust under the gaskets or other stuff, I shoot it with the Rust-oleum Appliance Biscuit. Spot on match for the T012 white and coats very well.

I also tried a version of this appliance paint(different color) but it wasn't a close enough match but maybe this one is...
