I went out for the clcc's first wheeling trip of the year. I'm told I should tighten up the axles (or hubs maybe?) and steering components now. What exactly am I tightening? The smaller bolts around the manual hub locks? To what torque? Otherwise is it just the tie rod ends?
Sorry for the newb Q. It was my first real wheeling trip :)

tie rods, knuckle studs, pitman arm?, steering arms, pretty much anything with a bolt up front i'd tighten. make sure you have pins through your castle nuts, its not something you want to fall off.... have you checked your muffler bearings?

Don't forget to check the fitzer valve.

I lost one of those on the trail once. Man what a nightmare. KAPOW, sounded like something breaking. Thought it was a birf breaking at first. Glad to find out it was just a muffler bearing, but man... it sounded like a mule kicking a 50gal drum all the way home. And milage? I went from like 12mpg to 8mpg until I got that fixed

You know, I shouldnt post after brett76 outside of T.U.T.

Bandy Rooster, are you using Koyo muffler bearings or after market?

Rig of mortis, what kinda dinosaur truck do you have? Still running a distributor belt? Get with the times man, mine is driven by magnets that run synchronously with a set of diodes on the crank, i can adjust timing with my mind from inside the truck.
