With the new DBA rotors and new pads, my brakes feel awesome. During the break-in of the pads everything went smoothly and the problem of my wheels pulling to the left when I braked was gone, even during the high speed stops when I romped on the brake pedal....until tonight. I was downtown and slowing down gradually as I was coming up on a red light, and my steering wheel wrenched hard to the left. It probably would've gone a full rotation if I hadn't had my hand on it to keep control.

What the hell would cause this in such a random spot? Can this happen if the rears are boogered up at all? I wouldn't expect so, but I haven't touched them in quite a while...

I don't know why, but I'd check the right side brake. If something failed on the right side, then the left would have a lot more braking power, and cause the pull you describe.

That was the first thing I looked at. Couldn't find anything wrong, no leaking fluid, caliper's not loose, pads are still good to go. After that, it was all straight again. Couldn't duplicate the problem even when I tried

if the back left is grabbing unusually hard it makes since it would want to pull the front really hard left. tractors have breaks on the back wheels independant from eachother so you can turn quicker, maybe the same sort of thing is going on here. just an idea.

Probably just a groove in the road

You must have been here before. Half the time I can't tell if my brakes are pulling or the grooves are just taking me that way. Spooks problem sounds a little too extreme for grooves though.

Yeah it pulled pretty damn hard. I just can't figure out why it only did it once and everything was perfect again afterwards.

Then again, we've all driven up Division, so we all know how bad the roads are here

You probably hit something in the road that you did not see..

Or a groove, it really does not take that much to pull the wheel from your hand..

Rears grabbnig can do this. I would reccomend that you at least jack up the truck this weekend and take a look.

BTW, do you use your parking brake a lot?

Can you go to the same stretch of road to try to replicate it? There are several places on my commute that have grooves that will pull my 60 to one side.

I recently also added New DBA rotors the 4000 series at the same time I bought two reman calipers to go on there. I had the same problem that you have before I got everything installed it pulled to the right side also and I would have to turn the steering wheel the opposite way to control it. Since I had the rotors, calipers and new stainless lines it's hard for me to say what exactly it was that did the pulling to the right. All I know now is that I can stop straight and the problme is gone! Good luck.

need to drink more beers using left hand, simple fix

I know that around here the roads are severly ruted due to the studded tires that alot of people use during the winter and my truck gets to pulling real hard left and right depending on the road and which side of the rut I'm on. When I'm braking and get caught in one of those ruts my truck acts as if one of the brakes has locked up, strong pulls either direction.

Hope you figure it out, keep us posted.

Yeah I was going around the block several times trying to get it to do it again, but I got nothing. Beaufort's comment made me remember that since my system was completely dry (save for the MC), I wonder if there may have been some small air bubbles against the sides of the calipers that wouldn't let loose during bleeding, and have finally risen to the top with the vibrations of driving. I'll bleed it all again soon and see what I get out of it.
