Ok so I am getting 220V installed in my garage, soon for various reasons (like you need one).

My Eastwood cheapo 135 welder is working fine, but I want to weld heavier steel. First would be my motor mounts for my LS swap.
Now the question is what welder to buy. Most of my work will be on my 60 and my trailer.

Budget is $1500 for the welder only. What recommendations can be made?

Lots of recent threads here and you'll get lots of opinions. With that budget I'd get the Miller 211 or whatever the number is now. No way you will be disappointed.

If you're adventurous the Harbor Freight inverter multi process units are getting good reviews. But that's an unknown.

Used Miller would be my bet for your budget.

I bought a Hobart handler 210 a couple years ago and I love it. It was a few hundred dollars less than the Miller and both are built by the same company in the same factory. I have built a bunch of stuff with it and it welds 3/8" steel without skipping a beat.
