Welder problems. Trigger allows co2 to leak.

I have a 220 mig welder that i am using with co2 mix.

Im using the .023 wire and it sounds like my gas is constantly running through the gun.

I thought it should only shield when the trigger was pulled and the wire advanced, but it seams to me that the gas is continuously flowing when i open up the tank valve.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the solenoid that shuts off gas flow when you let off the trigger is broke?

That would be my guess too. Does it leak when the power is off? If it does then the solenoid is leaking, if it doesn't then the solenoid is fine but it's getting powered when the trigger is off.

That is the root of the problem. I agree you have issues with the spool valve that turns the gas on/off. If you can troubleshoot it and find out if the valve sticks, gets juice when it's not supposed to, or what exactly is going on you should be able to retrofit with a similar part from a higher end brand of welder. Try calling you local Miller dealer and see if they do service work - about half of the welding shops have a service dept. See if they will take mercy on you and fix it.
