alright, maybe we've talked about this but i can't find anything.
i build this 12' cord out of some 8-gauge 3-conductor range cable i had laying around the house, but i want to make something more along the lines of 50feet.

IF i could find some place online to buy one, i would. most (if any) of the 220 cords i find do not have the 3prong welder plug on it, so i've resorted to making one.

if any of you have made one, i would like to know what type of wire you used, and where you got it/what you paid for it.

if you know where i could just buy one then shout out. or if you have a link (even better) then shoot it at me.

thanks everyone.

problem with really long cords is it knocks down your voltage a little, FWIW... Also you'll probably have to build your own. the black floppy flexible stuff is best IMO... None of it will be cheap though, 220 wire is expensive...

I built a 20ft 50 amp cable extension out of products I found at home depot, 3 conductor black, flexible cable and they had the plug and socket ends in the range section.

The voltage drop can be compensated for by using a heavier gauge wire. The larger the wire the lower the resistance, the lower the voltage drop. (V=I*R) of course 3/0 wire is bulky and pricey.

Ditto. I made mine purchasing everything, including good flexible oil resistent wire, from HD.

remember what you guys paid a foot for you home depot cable?

Nope. But I think I remember spending about $75 for the wire and plug...20'...be warned I don't have the best of memories!
