Since the sliders don't get attached to the body, how do you keep them from flexing up into the body? The ones I built before were attached to the body and were designed to spread the load as such....

Ary, the outrigger (arms) that hold the slide rail and are bolted to the frame have about an inch of space between the arm and the pinch weld. When you jack the truck up using the slider, they deflect about 3/4 to 1 inch, equating to them just barely missing the weld. I was surprised at how stout the design was. I have noticed the only weak spot, if you want to call it weak, is the arm that goes under the cats. It's longer therefore deflects more. I think if you slammed the truck down on the very front of the cat-side slider it could deflect enough to slightly dent the pinch weld, but not bad at all.

Yeah i agree with the bolt on people. Bottom line is why not. They are strong and come on an off easily. :D

BINGO!! :)

Arya,
I like your idea but that would be a major PITA !!!!! you would have to drill through holes then drill an oversized hole in one side of the rail. pass sleeve through weld the sleeve in place then grind it all smoth. It would be cool as hell though. just a lot of work for very little benefit.

I vote for bolt on, I have already had to install and remove the Slee step sliders twice for exhaust work! I have lifted the truck from the things with no problem whatsoever. So far the hardest I have smacked them through was a very large but loose granite/gravel mound that I came down on hard enough to sort of high center the vehicle but just from the slider! They totally protected everything. I would not want any weldable sliders due to removal issues and possible frame stress issues. One question though, how many here have had to winch connected with the sliders? I know they can totally support the vehicle but can you strap onto them and winch from them? Thanks.
