Welcome Dan and thank you for your service!!

Being retired Air Force, from the Revolutionary War, I don't speak all the other service jargon. But, it sounds important to me!

You location says San Diego... That's a great place to be!!

I was born and 'raised' in the Imperial Valley... In the ghettos of Seeley, Pop. 101, elevation -100, temperature HOT!!

I used to dream about San Diego, 110 miles to the west... When I wasn't dreaming about Yuma, AZ, 63 miles to the east.

I went to elementary school with a lot of Navy kids and a few Marine kids, from El Centro NAF... Join the... see the world!! And they ended up one mile from Seeley... What,a cruel trick!!

Anyway, I've digressed... Welcome!! Post some pics if you find them!?,

Thanks! OEF=Afghanistan, EWTGLANT is a silly Navy acronym for Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic. I am no longer in San Diego, just bought a house in VA beach. I am familiar with the El Centro area--I picked a couple of helicopters off of the desert floor just northwest of plaster city last year....

Ah... Plaster City... Lovely company town, U.S. Gypsum. I lived there from age 2-6. Still remember the two-holer outhouse.

Even at that young age, I was never comfortable enough to bring a friend... Used to play in the craters, in the desert, behind the house. Don't know where they came from, but they saved us from having to dig foxholes...

Very hot, most of the year, everything covered in white dust, no street names, no pavement, no TV... No future for anyone who stayed.

When I was 5-6, I "helped" my Father build a house in Seeley. He did a great job... As did I, and we moved there in time for first grade, age 6.

I never visited Plaster City again. But, had I stayed in the Imperial Valley, I'm pretty sure I would have 'visited' the prison they built, just east of Plaster City, near Dixieland.

The Air Force saved my future, trained me for a very good livelihood and let me tour Libya... Along with some of Europe and various places in the States.

Enough about me... I hope you enjoy Virginia, wherever that is...

Hi Dan,
(KliersLC) Welcome to the highway. I had an 81 pickup long bed with no air. It was rough in Alabama, New Mexico and El Paso. I spun a lot of red clay with the Buckshot Mudders at Ft Rucker.

I am quite happy that I never had the resume enhancement of burning crap with mogas. I was born and raised on the farm and have shoveled my fair share and wide variety of crap.

Hi all,
Brand new to this forum, and a new owner of a 1997 series 80, I served in the Army for 6 years as a 19K M1A1 Tanker, until I got hurt and they said I couldn't play with my Tank anymore. I served in Kosovo, Iraq and various other vacation spots and got my E5 before I got out. Now I have my own Land Cruiser Tank! I look forward to reading all the info I can about my type of truck.

Yes, please show us your tank!!

Good looking 80 for sure. Now you are set to visit the outdoors, just not the way you did with your Army buddies.

Indeed! Just need a new exhaust and it's perfect!

I'm Ed, I was Regular army from 85 to 87, stationed in Germany most of that time. After that I did 19 years Army National Guard, my unit deployed for Desert Shield/storm. I didn't go because of a head injury I was recovering from. In 04 the unit was deployed again to Iraq. I went that time, and was in convoys the whole time (88M).

One of our units convoys in Iraq.

Return trip.

I landed at Ray Barracks in Friedburg for 2 years, the home of Elvis Presley while he was enlisted.

What part of Germany is that?

Found another picture. This is one of our other platoons, I didn't have a digital camera back then. Pretty much the same thing though.
