Welcome, why the thumbs down? A long wheelbase is probably the only thing that would make me want another 25. :bounce:

Looks fairly solid, what are your plans?

AUSSIE 25 Hi jim, I got it about 4 weeks agao, been looking for one for about a year. The long weel base yerr, some one extended the chasis by about 2 .5 feet. I intend to shorten it up again in to the short ute. The f engine runes well, the 4 speed box is good, the frount diff is ok, need swvil hub kit. The rear diff is shot, lotts of teath off the crownwheel. The cab and panels arevery good, apart from the dints. Two pices of rust in the floor about 4 inches across, thats all. I am going to restore. The main bits i need are hand brake drum and band diff center L seat and the R door, i think i can make that. Do you have aney info as to who made the rear of the cabs for australia? Cheers Ian

Hey Ian, welcome to mud...nice rig!!!

Do you have more pics of the engine bay, front end, and that, er, frame extension?

PS. you came to the right place to ask your questions, so I'll let those who know way more than I answer them

Hi Dean, Thanks for the welcome, i tried to put some pickys of the engine and the extencion but i will have to take the other photoes off as their isn't enough room in my storge. How do you get around this problem? Cheers Ian.

Ian,

Photos are limited unless you get a membership. You can host them somewhere else and link them using the insert image button in the toolbar, then you won't be size or quantity limited. ;)

On the cab, if you search some of JohnnyC 's posts on Theiss and Toyota history you may find a lead, all I know is they were manufactured locally after arrival.

I'm not sure what you mean by a swivel hub kit. Knuckle bearings, wheel bearings and seals, are all the same as the 40. The inner wheel bearing and all metal wheel seal on the 25 spindle is a press fit, which is very strange when you run across it the first time, I can post up more information if you want. Anyhow, the new 40 parts are a direct swap. Ball and claw axles are common with the early 40, and the axle bushing is available from SOR over here, maybe even Toyota. Using a later 40 knuckle seal kit you can cut the felts for the seal at the ball.

Most of the other parts you listed are FJ25 specific, hopefully you can turn up something local. Nothing new is available. There are a few Aussies on here, searching for FJ28 will probably find them. I've got a few differentials, maybe a parking brake, shipping would be a killer. ;)

If you get a chance post pictures of the frame extension, 45's had something similar, maybe it wasn't homemade. :)

I guess Jim and I were typing at the same time, and since his got posted first, my post was redundant :)

Thanks for your info on rebuilding the frount diff ends. The stearing box,can yous get PN 04452-55010 the roller kit stearing sector sharft. NSK bearing no DS110H AF K. ? I found some ARM KIT STEARING CENTER PN 04453-60011 for around $80 AUS. i WILL POST MORE PICTURES SOON. Cheers Ian.
