Thank you to everyone in the forum who have helped with information about these trucks. I have just adopted a teenager: a 2000 LX 470, with 171K on the clock. It took forever for me because I had to sell my turbo Miata to add this one to the stable. Just got back from Los Altos with it Sunday night. Nothing like buying a car with 171,000 miles and immediately adding another 900 to it. It drives beautifully, but the AHC does not appear to work (surprise, surprise). Like Entropy and his new baby, I'm trying to figure out the best way of getting my iPhone to work with the Nakamichi stereo. Now all I have to do is find a trail that is still accessible here in Northern Utah. This is my first 4WD, so I'm not familiar with the trails around here, yet. Looking forward to dragging my little trailer tent around and going camping.

Thanks for the link on trails. Turns out, the AHC does work on the truck. I just had to go out and buy $1500 worth of candy for clients and employees and played with the switch at a light; truck goes up, truck goes down. I didn't realize that as soon as you start moving, the Low setting reverts to Normal. AVS makes a real difference, too. Happy camper, here.

Why does it make me cringe when someone uses the term "on the clock" when referring to mileage? Must be a mental dysfunction on my part.

Funny you mention that, it felt weird writing it. Seems like it applies more to aircraft and other mechanical equipment whose maintenance schedules are based on hours of usage rather than distance traveled. Or you're just dysfunctional, either one.

Congrats on the new ride. I was worried about my new to me 2000 lx470 ahc working initially, then going away when moving.
The manual says it goes back to normal automatically at 19 mph or so.
