Day 2 of the weekend turned out to be a great day of some pretty hard wheeling.
We had 5 rigs attend, Mark W. in his 40, Junior in his 40, me and mine, Matt with his buggie and
one Jeep (forgot his name already). We met at the Swanzey PO and made our way up to
the new trail (Porcupine Ridge). It doesn't look like anyone has run this trail since it was cut but
we did our best to try and break it in a little bit.
The trail is a bit deceiving. At the beginning there aren't alot of rocks or anything really, just a gradual
climb up a hill thru some trees and a few slick spots. When you reach the bottom of a pretty long and steep
hill you have a fairly small ledge to climb. In dry weather this would be a pretty easy climb but the whole hill
was just like trying to drive up a board covered with grease. Everyone except Matt needed either a strap or a winch to get up. Next big challenge was a short rock field of about 40 ft. Mark, Jr. and I took the by-pass.
Matt put on a really cool show with the buggie launching the front end 6' in the air as he came up over the top. The Jeep also took this challenge and about 30 minutes later with some good spotting he made it up.
