i have a weber 38dges that i think needs rebuilt. Truck will not run but it will start briefly if floored. Gas vapors spew out the top with the air cleaner off. I have been told the float could be stuck.
My questions are: how hard is it to rebuild a carb, and what jets size should i be running? I have never done this before but need to try and save some $$. If this does not work then i am gonna have to get a trollhole carb. I leave for work and will not be able to respnd to anyones questions until late this evening. thx alot.

Oh and i live in upstate sc.

It's pretty easy- get the kit with a new power valve diaphragm, pump diaphragm and
float valve, and you're good to go.

Clean it out well- pull all the jets and screwed- in plugs, blow out ALL the passages, dip it in
carb cleaner for a few minutes and reassemble.

If it has a brass float, give it a shake- they do crack sometimes.

Buy a Haynes and set the float level, and you're probably good to go.

Oh, they DO demand clean fuel at a low (2-3psi) pressure- it's often worth
putting a generic EFI filter, low pressure regulator and gauge on for insurance.

I'm afraid others will have to help with jetting- mine were on 2l 4's.
