We were so close… Road-tripping my new FJ60 from TX to NC

Knocked the first round of dirt off. A few more washes and it’ll be good to go. Also vacuumed up 10 years of hunting dirt out of it. The interior will get completely stripped and power washed and insulated in the near future. Seats will also get some love.

Got the new master cylinder and clutch slave installed this evening and went to go bleed it. Slave started pouring fluid out of the boot once pressure built up. Tried adjusting the threaded rod thinking it may be overextending but I think the seal is just shot. Removed the inspection cover on the trans and the clutch fork seems ok and isn't off the pivot or anything like that.

When the bleeder is open, fluid flows through the slave and doesn't leak out the boot. When the bleeder is closed, fluid is pouring out of the slave boot.

Seems my new slave cylinder DOA...will try to find another locally (not likely) to get the truck running again.

This is my first. The old slave was doing the same thing so I wonder if something is out of whack...I'm going to drain the system and inspect the slave to see what is going on.

I did find another slave at NAPA on 54 so I'll go grab it in the morning and hopefully get it up and running.

So I took the new slave apart and the pushrod was 1/2 the length of the stock one so I reused the stock one and it seems to have bled. The shorter pushrod allowed the seal to overextend and leak. Going to test drive it in the morning and see if it holds or still leaks but hopefully she’ll be driving again in the morning!
