Hello, All.

I got my LX470 about two years ago, with 101k on it. The CV axles looked fairly new when I got it..

Now, the LX has 127k miles and I have a leak on the inner boot of the passenger side. So, my question: Is there any good way to tell if my axles are OEM or Aftermarket? I need to know this so I can either re-boot, or if I need to replace these aftermarket with OEM.... I haven't had the chance to get under the rig and clean the axle off to see if I could see any markings, so I'm just looking for an easy answer if someone knows. Please forgive my ignorance.

Thanks, much.

Photos would help. Original Toyota axles usually have a yellow clamp on the outer boot, but not sure you'd be able to tell after 125K miles and 15-20 years.

If the leak is around end of boot and have not lost much grease, could just need new clamps. If you have lifted it you will want the special hose clamp mod many of us have done. Some posts here about what kind of clamp and where to get them.

The bands aren’t yellow. They’re metal with a pink marking..

I’m guessing it probably wouldn’t be worth it to reboot an aftermarket axle??

There’s no clicking... yet.
