I am doing a water crossing fairly often and I always get a couple of table spoons into my air box.
Does anyone know of any good ideas beside making a whole new airbox.
I have plugged the whole in the small catch can with RTV Sealent and checked my snorkel.

My buddy brought up the idea of waxing the felt seals to have a better suction.

I pulled my airbox out a few months back and the freaking snorkel wasn't even connected.
I sealed it up with some RTV and its good now.
Its just the seapage through the felt seals.
I plugged the hole in the catch can as well.

I don't like the idea of welding those things shut because I like to be able to check my filter easy.

How do you get seepage past the seals? I never stop in the water, engine bay is only splashed with water the air box doesnt sit under water for any time.

I am not stopping in the water at all.
I do get a little splash with it in the engine bay but I drive in low second forming a nice enough bow wave.
Its just a little annoying knowing a get a bit of water in there. I am hoping for a bit of a more sealed unit. I might give the wax a go here.
I'm thinking some kind of surf wax may be good.:meh:

no precleaner as of yet. I am planning on putting one on in the fall here.
i checked the airbox pre crossing and post crossing.
no rain on that day.

but yes the snorkel will suck a little bit of water from rain.

bought a ring of plumbers wax for $2.02.
Smeared some all over the felt seals and the brim of the box.
Its definitely making a better seal now.
Will tester out on the weekend and report back.

this got a little deeper and no water troubles luckily ,ill be building a stainless 3.5" snorkle soon though,
The current gave the underneith a good wash of all the clay and mud
