First post, though I've been lurking on mud for ever...(lovin me some cruiser action)

I'm currently in the process negotating on a 08 LX. It's awesome however I noticed on the CarFax that the water pump was replaced at 51K miles. I dont think this is normal, but I would like to know everyone's opinion on the matter. Every time I try to get the manuals, the links come back as forbidden and apparently its not a normal issue because I cant find any info by searching. So if you could be so kind as to provide me with the normal replacement interval for a water pump and and opinions on how this could affect the vehicle int the future, it would be awesome!

This is nothing to worry to about. I would not call water pump replacement on many Toyota models (and many other makes, for that matter) uncommon at this point. The seal tends to seep through the weep hole, the newer coolants tend to be hard on the pump seal.

I'm not an expert in the 200 series (nor anything else lol) but with the 5.7 L engine it seems the water pump placement is NOT ideal. This statement comes from more of the Toyota Tundra models forums. I would not worry about it. Is it a certified unit? or a private sale? Because the Land Cruiser and LX are much smaller population in the USA we may not see issues with the pump. Maybe try to search on the tundra forums for some more info; but if it was done at a dealership etc I would not worry.

Just noticed mine dripping some coolant juice. Has anyone done a write up on replacement of the 5.7 water pump on here? It should be fairly straightforward and I plan to tackle it myself.

Ditto. Old thread, I know, but I was about to write literally the same thing. Anyone?
