Just wondering how hard it is to change a water pump on a 2007 v8 land cruiser should it be tackled by a home mechanic or left to the experts and does anybody know where there is a good tutorial with pictures on how to do it and should the timing belt be also replaced I'm at 135,000 km,s . I was quoted $860 at my local Toyota dealer with timing belt

You can download a FSM for a 2004 that will give you the basics. I like working on my truck and I probably wouldn't do the timing belt or h20 pump. Too much rests on it working right. That price is a good deal if it includes parts.

Hellgate, I say it depends on you. It's not that difficult, just a lot of steps (drain and remove the radiator, pull the fan, pull lots of covers...) I just did my '04 Tundra with the same 2UZFE engine with a kit from Volkstoy on flea-bay. All OEM parts and cost me $318 (I bought the premium kit ;) I did replace a lot of things that your dealer won't, but $860 is pretty cheap (I have heard $1200 - $2000 for 90K mile PM). It took me a full day to do with being careful and not rushing. Hope this helps you on your decision.
