It is leaking in water into the front right floor in my hzj78
Could it be the intake to the fan or the rubberstrip to the windshield?

Is it a common fault?

It is not from the radiator, just rainwater....

The fan would be fairly easy to confirm or deny a leak by taking it off and drowning the car with a hose ,conditons permitting.

Rubber windscreen seals do need resealing sometimes. Hard to get the glass out without breaking it though

Could be the fresh air intake at the fan.
After having replaced all the seals around the front windshield and frame it looked as if I had tackled the problem about half a year ago.
Recently found clear water (no coolant) on the floor below the blower and traced it back to the inside of the fan and I'm sure it's entering via the fresh air intake.
So far had no time to further investigate, but I suspect the drains in the intake-area between hood and windshield to be clogged. Not easy to get to though.
These drains are just small openings in the bodyparts at the edges of that intake area (if I remember correctly) and they drain into the front mudguard area just in front of the doors.

In my case, it was the windshield rubberstrip leaking water between the windshield and the rubberstrip down on the fan housing and on to the floor.
If your rubberstrip looks good and you don’t want to buy a new one just remove it and saperate it from the window. Then clean it well and put silicon on both sides of the rubberstrip and that's all i did to fix mine.

My windshield began leaking last fall, I could see the water pool against the glass then drip down the inside firewall. I used a windshield specific silicone sealant, which is thinner and can fill small holes. Anyway a quick fix, and sure you can see there is silicone on the weatherstrip/windshield if you look close enoug:rolleyes:.

I was told by auto body repair guy not to use silicon to seal windscreens or body panels, because the curing acid use in silicon will attack paint work and eventually the metal underneath. I used a bitumen type
mastic to seal my windscreen.

Thanks! I have sealed the windscreen with special "silicone" for the purpose,

Now i just have to wait for the snow to melt so i can see if it still leaks...
