I had a water intrusion issue that completely disabled my 2011 LX. The passenger footwell was very wet, pulled the lower panel trim, and had standing water in the rocker. Obviously, Not Good.

The vehicle would start but immediately shut down. Apparently, the immobilizer was the problem and was causing the fuel pump to shut down. After trying to start the vehicle multiple times, I drained the battery and sent the electronic system into a tailspin.

Cleaned/dried all of the visible wiring harness connections I could find in the footwell but still didn't solve the problem. The immobilizer is tucked under the glove box so once that was cleaned up everything went back to normal. That was a close call.

The immobilizer can be bypassed with a wiring change. Has anyone done this? If so, I would like to know how to do this.

I still haven't figured out if the water came from the sunroof drain (the headliner and a pillar were dry) or a bad seal on the windshield (it has been replaced in the past) but I am glad it's back to normal.

Since this sounds like a electrical gremlin I would recommend to first hook a obd reader and techstream to the car and check what it tells you. Normaly the immobilizer itself shouldn’t have a problem since the receivers and the unit itself aren’t placed at spots that can keep water (was soldering a few weeks ago on the imo ecu).
Probably something else causes the problem

I had a similar immobilizer issue that appeared to be caused by a water leak via the windshield cowl above the glove box/air filter area. There are existing threads on this, the solution is to replace the entire cowl. Not cheap, but I have had no issues since replacing the cowl on my 2009 LC.

I've had it back for a few days and no issues so far. I'm going to monitor it next time it rains and see if I still have an issue. Thank you all for the feedback.

did you do anything else beyond cleaning and drying the harness connection?

No. So far so good. I will report back after the next big rain.
