A friend may head down to Magdalena tomorrow. Though I should be pulling weeds, and getting ready for Colorado, I’ll probably join him.
Thinking meet at Kelly mine area or water canyon campground 9:30 AM.
Anyone interested?
The recent rain could make it interesting.

Working... Curious to hear how the wash-out is holding up. Have fun!

Nothing was impassable. Looks like someone’s done a little work on the washouts maybe. Getting overgrown. @jstncse your repairs are still mostly there if not a little buried, if I’m looking at the right spot. Sorry no pics of that

Glad to hear it is still passable. It is still one of my favorite trails

Old thread, I know, but cool to see confirmation that you can get to the top of N. Baldy via Water Canyon. I made an attempt on this trail by myself early this year but was blocked by a big sheet of ice.

@Dumpolina , where does the trail out of water canyon intersect the ridge? (EDIT > nevermind, did a little reading of past trip reports and had another look at Google Earth and I can see the Water Canyon route comes up just below the summit to the southeast and meets the route out of Kelly. I'll have another go at the east side sometime and see it for myself.)

We ran the trail to the top out of Kelly on Sat and had fun, but I imagine the trail up the east side is more challenging (and significantly more overgrown).

@BigFishAllDay sorry I didn't see this sooner. The route is pretty obvious on the ground, especially coming from Water Canyon side.
Let me know if you head that way again, I'm always up for that trail. It needs to see use to keep it open, I believe.
