...and I'll swim through an alligator infested bayou to pick it up and swim back holding it over my head to bring it home. I just can't spend a fortune, cause, well, I haven't got a fortune.

I have been reading and learning from you guys on this forum for a month, but now it's time to stop sitting around waiting for one of the LC parts specialists out here in LA to dig a roof up for me and get busy myself.

My '73 IrnPg is PERFECT (well, not absolutely, but love is blind) - it just needs a rust-free roof put on it. I'm hoping to find one from the southwestern states (AZ, NM, NV, southern UT) but the main point is to buy me another ten years of FJ55 happiness. I've got an excellent, proven body guy standing by. I just need the ROOF (with 6-8" of rust free pillar attached). Anyone have any leads or ideas?

(ps - does anyone have any leads on replacement rear window weather stripping/gaskets? I've heard of one guy who's making them but he charges $500. for the pair )

(You can see me and my rig in the registry - https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=982636&postcount=47)

Tempting...

...but I will need to see what it will take to remove/weld over the sunroof. Besides my being just another one of those stubborn/picky 55 purists (although I would like to add some beefy siders someday), I carry alot of heavy stuff on the roof and it would just be a matter of time before I dropped something on it. Or through it...

One eraser-size rust bubble - that part sounds great.

Will give the guy a call tomorrow and see what he says.

Anyone out there want to share their roof-redo story?

I have a 55 with a good roof and rain gutters, it has surface rust on the top but is straight will be very reasonably priced if you want it. I am willing to do the cutting, the only thing is I have a guy who I sold a 55 to that may need some of the rear left corner. I also have all the stainless gutter trim. Sorry but the rubber is shot. PM with your email and I can send you a picture.

Once upon a time, there was a guy in the Bay area who needed a Pigroof. And there was a Pig being parted out in Santa Rosa. So a bunch o' guys got together and took that roof off of the partsPig and the Bay area guy drove off with it, never to be heard from again, yet.
Not much of a story, sorry, but pics of the de-roofing and roof transport are here...

...and the piggies drove off with their new parts,
and lived happily ever after.

What do you mean? That's a GREAT story.

Thanks for those inspiring pics. The northern Bay Area is my home turf (it's where my pig came from, bought from my bro who is a mechanic in Novato). If you know of ANYONE in Santa Rosa or anywhere remotely thereabouts, that would be up for a pig smorgasbord like that, and there's a decent roof involved for a fair price, count me in.

I wouldn't want to have to handle the electric knife, but I make a rad cajun gumbo.

thanks pighead!

I will cutting up whats left of my 74 parts pig in the next couple of weeks. The roof is in real good shape and the pillars are good all the way up. I guess that one on the east coast is a lillte far.
