I'm doing my first knuckle job on my FJ62. I also replaced steering box, arms, rods, TRE's, and knuckle kit. After partially tightening, I noticed they were binding up bad so I added shims to the top and set preload to 10 lbs. My knuckles and bearings still dont turn very smoothly and hang up in the centered position. I assumed the new high steer arms were the cause of shims needing changed or else PO had it set wrong. I was hoping bottom ones for centering were OK. Bearings packed with moly. Rechecked races are seated. Maybe machining of new parts is bad? Not sure where to go from here except to do it the right way with a SST. Does anyone have a SST to loan, rent, sell or have a good place to buy one? I am up in the Lake Stevens WA area.

Marlin Crawler sells the fish scale for setting the bearing preload.

Ya, I saw that Trail Tailor one. It seems to be the best buy out there and have always been happy dealing with TT. I'm sure I will need it again in the future since I plan on keeping my Bruiser forever. Plus it will be nice to have one in the area I can loan out.
Thanks for the scale tip, I think I have that handled with a luggage scale that checked out real good with a kettlebell.
