Hey,

Thanks for your post on my thread! I just may have what you are looking for - a pretty clean 1978 FJ 40 SBC that would be a great daily driver! I have a power steering kit and saginaw box waiting to be install, which will make the my Cruiser much more viable on the road and dirt as well. I will send you some pictures of my rig at the email address you provided. I am asking $8500 OBO, so maybe we can make a deal as I would much rather sell it to someone locally.

All the best,

Josh Ruple

Is this deal closed? I'm in Denver, have a '81 FJ40, 145K miles, stock engine, SM420 tranny, stock t/c, CV jointed driveshafts, spring over, shackle reversal, factory power steering, has a Warn winch (the previous 8274 model, it's the older one with the actual Jeep plate on the winch, can't remember the model, looks exact same as the 8274). Vehicle is a bit rough, not alot of rust, but dents, scraches, etc, rollcage has been extended forward from the factory one, but kinda cheesy I think, has a hardtop, but hardtop does not fit perfect at all (it was layed over before I got it with the hardtop on it), so it 'fits', but has yet to get sealed good at all. I only have driven it with the hardtop on it for the last few months, sat for about 6 years before that and when wheeled only had a bikini top on.

Definetly not a show vehicle at all, but a good dependable truck, you also get the stock tranny and bellhousing with it, bikini top and anything else I can find around the garage to get rid of. :)

Oh, also currently the t/c linkage is not there, so you have to climb underneath to switch into low or 4wd. I have some pieces of the linkage (putting in the SM420 changed all of that) but haven't pieced it all together and fabbed the parts needed yet. I think you can buy the parts online from Advanced Adapters for about $230 for the whole shifter thingy, with twinstick and all (it has a Advanced Adapter inbetween the tranny and t/c).

I'd sell it for say $4750 as it sits now.

PM me if interested. Located just South of Denver.

Later,
Mark Brodis
