Hallo everybody,
Im new to your forum, and im in search for a fj 25 to restore,or thats already restored.Im from South Africa, and therfore be looking for a righthand drive vehicle.I currently own a few cruisers,my favourite a 1976 FJ 40 that i have totally restored to perfection.Currently the only one in South Africa with full service history and geniune 62000 kms on the clock!!Ive imported this car from Aus about 4 years ago,and just completed the restoration.I would like to share some pictures of my resto with you on this forum, how do i post them:rolleyes:
Anybody that can help me with my search....thankyou very much!!:)

This is going to be hard to do if your looking for a full body. Other than Japan the only place to find RHD is probably Australia. And those were a frame and cowl with the body made locally. Dobster imported a LHD to Australia from the US. As far as I know it's the only FJ25 in Australia with a full factory body. As for Japan there have been a few pictures posted but I don't believe we have ever had posting here on Mud from a 25 owner in Japan. I have a few project 25s and one nice 25 but those are all LHDs in the US. I guess it wouldn't be impossible to convert a LHD to RHD. The biggest challenge is going to be to find the correct steering box and base that's riveted to the frame.

Good luck on your hunt and welcome to Mud:cheers:

I see your also looking for FJ55s. Those were imported to Australia in much larger numbers than the FJ25 and were a complete vehicle. Might try posting in the 55 section for 55 leads.

Trevor,
Welcome. As John said all of our 25's were LHD and the best bet may be Australia. It is not unknown to convert Cruisers from RHD when they are imported here, there are a number of shops that would be capable of doing that type of work on a LHD for export so don't be afraid of shopping in the USA. :grinpimp:

If you have pictures of your 40 restoration introduce yourself in the 40 Section and post them there. I believe you can attach up to three pictures and link as many as you want if you host them somewhere else.

Maybe you can provide some more information on this FJ25 that we think was imported to South Africa from Australia: Count the 25's #50
