I have a nice '88 4Runner that I've been thinking about selling. I'm in Charlotte, NC. I'm the second owner, and I bought it back in the early 90's. It has very high miles, 324,000, but it runs well and has many major repairs done fairly recently. 22RE, 5speed, tow package, grey interior. I suspect that the valve guide seals are about gone because it'll burn a little oil on start-up. I've never off roaded it, never towed anything. Briefly, the recent rapairs/upgrades are:
New Alternator
Upgraded A/C, blows cold
New drilled & slotted LCE Brake rotors (resist warping)
rebuilt rear axle
replaced transmission with rebuilt
replaced both front axles (when CV boots cracked)
front main oil seal replaced
New Windshield
Warn Manual hubs (ditched the autos)
Double Row timing chain (long time ago)
NEW leather gearshift boot (vinyl)
Needs:
radiator service (pinholes on top cover), no leaks
broken exhaust header bolt replaced
valve guide seals?
The body and chassis are in great shape, NO Rust anywhere. It's a very solid ride, really rides better than my '96 Tacoma.It's had a couple minor fender benders over the years, and they've been professionally repaired. Has excellent 31x10.5 Uniroyal tires.
I'd take $4,000 for it today. I might be dreaming, but I've had it for so long I can't see giving it away. It's been extremely reliable and still runs well. I need a bigger vehicle to tow my new boat, and am considering a LC 80 series. Let me know if you're even slightly interested.
