Hi All,

I contacted American RV Company about a possible group buy of Waeco Coolfreeze CF-50 Freezer Fridges.

They agreed to a (updated) price of $550 for the AC/DC version and $513 for the DC only version if we buy a total of 10 pieces. We may be able to get an even better price of we commit to 20 total pieces.

If interested, please add your name to the list below:

I have one and is an excellent frig, kida big for my BJ42 though. Get the thermal cover for it as well.

I run the DC version and have an external AC/DC converter at home. Fridge is slightly lighter, maybe easier to fix. I give the Waeco two thumbs up because it is lighter weight than comparable models, good internal layout, a lid that opens L/R, a nice internal basket and a low voltage power cut-off.

The fridge can be sensitive to voltage loss so it is a good idea to cut off the plug that comes with it and put on a positive locking plug (fused) and make sure it has good wiring to the unit.

Hoser and Roberto: Is their offer of $550 + shipping a good deal for the AC/DC version?

I would get the AC/DC model, much better than transformers. The Waeco transformers dont have a long term reputation.

They also work MUCH better with the thermal cover and use less power, and it keeps them scratch free and looking new;)

Roberto and RoscoFJ73: Thanks for the input.

Everyone else: I am surprised nobody is interested in a group buy. The Waeco is getting glowing reviews and we are getting a great price.

I hope we can generate some more interest and get this order going. :-)

Rosco, the Danfoss compressor is 12/24V whether you get the DC version or the AC/DC version. The difference is the transformer is inside vs outside, right? I bought this Vector 6A converter. I don't think there is a strong argument for any model over the other... except it's easier to repair the transformer on the DC model! ;)
