My second fill up. Needle almost on E , driving range 26 miles. Then it only takes 18 gallons and now showing full? I thought it would take way more? What's the mystery?

Normal - my 2016 rarely shows more than 290 miles on the range when full. I’m guess it has to do with fuel pump location or Toyota being ultra conservative.

By fuel pump location - i’m Assuming that it’s submerged (causing the need for a few gallons of fuel to keep it cool)

A huge safety margin. I've gone 60 miles past the fuel light/ zero range and the tank took 21.8 gallons to fill. Being a 24 gallon tank thats about my reasonable limit. Definitely not a relaxed experience though. Really should have a larger tank, this is my biggest complaint with my LC.

Long-standing complaint... Tank is tiny, and the low-fuel-warning cushion is at least 4+gallons.

For those who continue to drive when the mileage range shows 0, does the display begin to display negative range, or does it stay at 0?

Speculation in other thread was the fuel pump life is decreased in higher temps and part of how it stays at lower temps is flow of fuel. So, if it runs out of gas or gets super low the temp of the pump gets higher and reduces expected life earlier than normal. I may be missing a detail, but I think that's the major points regarding speculation on why they are so conservative on remaining fuel.
