VZJ95 gearbox problem!

Hi all,

This is my first post, so bear with me!

I'm from Venezuela and have a 2002 3.4l auto 95 series Prado.
Ive been having trouble with my gearbox, it leaked oil like there was no tomorrow and it ended up giving in. I need a new one. Sent it to my mechanic, they lowered it and i've been looking for a replacement ever since. Since then, a couple of issues have showed up regarding the model.

1) I was told that Prados had an A340F gearbox. Mine is an Aisin AW30-43LE. Now I've heard their the same gearbox but by experience "the same thing" usually isn't.

Is this true??

2) Have you seen Prados with these gearboxes? this one had never been replaced. My car came from Colombia, doing a bit of research, asked around and everybody says that Prados bring the a340f.

3) Where would you recommend I look for a new gearbox?? Finding a new one down here has proven to be nearly impossible (I found one but the price is absolutely ridiculous. I've a friend asking in a couple of dealerships/repair centers in Colombia. Ive looked around on internet sites, but no luck. Any ideas where I can find these??

UPDATE: Well. doing some research I found that my transmission's part number is the same as the A343F, so it is the same one. Still im having a hard time finding a 4WD one on the internet. Anybody know where I can find one???

Can you try fitting in a A340F from a 3rd gen 4runner? These should be easier to find on ebay or with luck in a local chivera.

My main concern the transfer (If it fits). I have two used transmissions located but i'm trying to avoid buying a used one. That's why i'm looking on the internet and in colombia.

I've still had no luck on the internet, as it turns out I need a new transfer as well, the transfer's shaft ended up bent.

I received a call from Colombia. The transmission alone was estimated at just under 10000usd, without shipping to Venezuela and the wait should be around 3 months.

Starting to get a little desperate here..
