Hi guys

Hope you can help with this one!!

2002 Amazon. Start the car, fine, put it in gear, fine. However, within 5 meters of moving (forwards or reverse) the VSC Off and VSC TRC lights come on (note the engine management light doesn't).

Stop the car. Start it again. No lights. Start to move, on they come again.

Read it could be the fuel cap so tried it with myself pushing the cap in hard whilst my partner moves the car, and also tried the fuel cap from my Audi as well, but to no avail. So pretty sure it's not that.

Checked the brake fluid level, and that's fine. I did note a grey plastic socket attached to the right side of the fluid chamber which has 1 pin inside and no plug attached. However, I cannot see the plug anywhere that would fit, and also it's dirty inside the socket so it's been that way for ages, and this is a recent issue.

Any ideas???

Check the wheel speed sensors? Been in any mud lately? The ridges on the axle that the speed sensors pick up may be caked in mud.

Behind the wheel where the CV shaft goes through the spindle bearing. You look for these:

(NOT a land cruiser pic, but you get the idea)

Did you have a check engine light that you fixed and reset? On a lot of Toyotas, if the CEL comes on, the VSC-TRAC light will also come on. You have to reset it separately from CEL. I'm not sure if there is a shade-tree procedure to reset it. There was one on the early Toyota Highlanders here in USA.

I had the same a while ago.
What you need is to reset the sensor.
Use a piece of electrical wire or clip and connect two pins in the diagnostic connector under the bonnet.
Do a search and you will find which one. There is a procedure for it.

Thanks for that! Definitely going to try this!!

By the way, where do i get a list of the fault codes from? i.e. what 33, 36 etc will actually mean once I count the flashes?
