I replaced the gas cap with new oem one on my vortec powered ‘83 fj60, sometimes it hisses for About 20 seconds if I slightly crack the cap open. My truck has a return line to the tank, no emissions stuff. I remember reading somewhere that drilling a tiny hole in the cap help? Can’t find that thread…

Here’s a hint - your gas tank doesn’t know what engine your truck has.

Do you have a charcoal canister? If not, install one.

Thanks Matt! Several threads on people using the GM aftermarket one. Do I need any check valves? Trying to figure out how to plumb everything…

No check valves needed. I run the canister vent hose right to the intake manifold.

Matt, would you mind explaining (or posting pictures) of where lines would connect on the intake and gas tank line? I am clueless on where these would connect to and this may help someone else in the future.

Thanks!!
