If it smells like a fart it probably is...
I think that thing is most likely a chinese POS. It might work a few times but let it sit out in the rain, run a heavy duty cycle a few times and then see if its worth the paint they brushed on it. I say save your money for a decent winch, one that will work when you really need it to.

I see used Warn M8000 and 9000s for that price range all the time..on Craigslist

I didn't pay too much more than that for a used M12000

Hi Guys,
This thread is a little old, but as we are just ramping up fully into the Recovery world with our winches, I thought I would chime in.

Given our mass success in the past five years in the ATV/UTV world with our VIPER winches, I would beg to differ that our winches are "junk." We do our best to work with our American engineers and techs, along with our top-notch China engineers and techs, to produce premium winches (everything is made overseas now to some degree....my buddy just toured the WARN factory there.)

I'm not going to promote anything now...waiting to become a sponsor of this great forum (we just became sponsors of the FJ Cruiser Forum). If it works out, you'll get discounts on our CLASSIC, MAX and new ELITE recovery winch lineup.

But given our field experience thus far, the recovery winches are top-notch. Hope that helps. Thanks for the input....always helpful to read.
