A client of mine told me something yesterday that I wanted to run by y'all- if it's true, I think it's a pretty good deal; but I can't find anything about googling. I'm hoping some of y'all might be able to clear all this up for me....

He said that, in Texas, an antique car (25 - 30+ years old) can be registered ONCE, using year-appropriate plates (in my case: 1975 Farm Truck Plates) and that the vehicle won't need to undergo inspection, carry registration stickers (like newer cars) and that the registration lasts for several years, rather than needing to be renewed each year! IS this the case?

Sure hope someone knows! I tried to find a vintage car club here in TX that has a forum, but I didn't have any luck- I was going to ask them about it. But, seeing as how a lot os LSLC members surely have vintage-qualifying LCs, I'm hoping someone knows about all this.

If you want to, please email me a response at: Horitexan@gmail.com

Thanks y'all!

My lil brother has em on his 71 Chrysler 300, but I do not know the specifics of said plates.

I know TXDOT has "Antique" plates that are good for 5 years and don't require inspection, but they're only supposed to be for limited use (club functions, parades etc.). I inquired about vintage plates and was basically told they were more or less vanity plates that you provide. I believe they still require yearly registration and inspection -

Last carshow I was at in Fort Worth there was a guy selling year specific restored old Texas license plates. For those that didn't know in the old days the plates had the year stamped into the plate.

Thanks for the info y'all! Since I use the cruiser almost exclusively as a ranch vehicle, only going to town for gas, I was thinking the 5-year registration might make a good way to go- especially if I didn't have to go through regular inspection to show it street-legal. Always looking for a shortcut! HAha! Oh well, I guess I'm gong to have to make her street legal after all! Back to work!
