First time poster. I recently installed a Victory 4x4 rack and love it, however I am having a lot of problems trying to solve the riddle of installing a 23zero 180 degree awning. The mounting hardware that comes with the 23zero doesn't align with the crossbars and I can't seem to find any other aftermarket mount that would solve the problem. Has anyone solved foe this issue with this rack or a prinsu?

Line up one row/slot in the bar. Drill a couple new holes in the mount bracket to match the other row/slot.

I am able to just line up two of the slots. It's not perfect but the small bolt size allows for a little wiggle room in the larger mounting slots. I am concerned that the small 1/4 bolt size and Tnut size may not be beefy enough?

If it was me, I’d drill three new holes in the bracket and use 6 total fasteners in that bracket. Should be plenty strong.

Victory’s own awning mounts only use a single channel, although on the side in the vertical plane rather than flat on top.

Maybe an opportunity to get some quick release mounts that work with the victory cross bars, if you aren’t the drilling through metal type.

But yeah, I’d line up one of the rails then drill a few holes to line up with the other if it was me.

Yes, Victory's mount is sized only for a standard awning. I avoided the larger and heavier 720 mostly because of the single pivot point putting too much stress on the lightweight aluminum rack. The 180 on the other hand has two points and weighs less, but unfortunately maintains the larger mount size requirement.

Ahh.. Does that mount seem more stable? Maybe you could add a plate to the face of it to lengthen it.

Thought about that too, but not sure where to find an appropriately sized plate. I'm also hesitant because it doesn't appear to be made for the added weight of the larger awning. But it certainly would be easier to mount to the rack if I knew where to find a plate that would work.

If you have the tools to cut aluminum and drill a few holes McMaster-Carr is a great source for metal plate. A jig saw and hand drill will do the job no problem.

I'm in the same boat but with the OVS 270 awning (they look to source the same exact brackets as 23zero). I'm doing as @TCM mentioned and ordering some 0.5in thick plates from mcmastercarr. I'm planning on using the existing slots in the brackets and just drilling some holes in the plate to act as a spacer (to bring the edge above the edge of the rack). When I get the parts in and drilled, I'll be picking up some flange head bolts long enough to go all the way through, and securing with some large washers, lock washers, and lock nuts. I'm thinking 5 bolts per bracket should so the trick with 3 brackets.

I originally was just going to use some standard circular spacers, but got uneasy with the idea of that much weight over such a small area (especially with the cantilevering).

What size bolts fit in the victory 4x4 slots? Don't they fit M8 bolts? If so, two per bracket are more than enough.

The bolts were tricky. Victory uses 80/20 for their rails, but unfortunately, 80/20 only has shorter (I think 1/2in) t-slot studs that fit in and suggest using the t-slot nuts instead of the studs. Problem with that is that you need to get very precise with cutting the bolts you screw in to length.

What I did was pick up some standard 1/4 20 carriage bolts and had to grind them down both along two sides of the head (head was too big) and the carriage square (too big as well). Took about an hour with a table grinder.

If I were to do it again, I would just get the t-slot nuts and some long 1/4 20 threaded rod lengths, screw the rod into the nut, put the hardware on, finish with a washer and locknut, and then chop the threaded rod off to length.

Forgot to mention, I'm putting mine upside compared to how @speakout525 showed as I have side lights on the roof rack I need to clear
I ultimately did this as well to make a little more room for an RTT but also to get the awning a little lower in profile on the rack. I ended up using a combination of longer bolts, lock nuts and spacers to make the connection with the awning bracket and the rack. @Victory 4x4 it would be great to see how you are developing the new brackets. I am also utilizing a slightly modified quick release bracket for my privacy tent on the other side of the rack that came from Prinsu. The ease of getting that privacy tent off and on the rack is a dream. It would be great if there was a similar option for a larger size as it is only made for smaller awnings.
