How did you keep the RPM under 2000 at 75 MPH?
Well rounded about 2k, not exactly under. Accelerating I would try to float about 2k, higher as needed and a couple strong freeway passes. My buddy who drove my truck nearly burned up a tank driving to get us from Flagstaff. I micro managed the truck to get 15 just to make a point, didn't mean to mislead there.
I don't get it....my 94 LC is very well maintained and I'm lucky if I get 14mpg........
I just took the family and both dogs down that road through island park to carlin nv round trip average 16.9 best tank 18.5 averaged about 65mph. 1100 miles round trip. only recent work was brakes all the way around 1 inch poly spacers (doubt they helped) and increased tire pressure 47psi. My daily commute I average 14mpg typically run it up to 80-85 on the freeway, then race from light to light to get the kid to school and make work on time. Driving slow really makes a difference....

Armor and bad O2 sensors will do that (if applicable).
Wouldn't I get a light if I had a bad o2 sensor?If not how can I tell?I have a light but the code is EGR so I have that to deal with!!

Not until it's completely dead. They die a slow and painful death and wreck your gas mileage without you knowing it. That's what happened to me.
You can test them by putting a voltage reader between the O2 sensor diagnostic port and ground. The voltage should go up with the RPM. If it doesn't, they're probably shot.
I took my new-to-me 80 on our first roadtrip the other day. Did 1000 miles, 3 tanks of gas in 14 hours. I kept a good speed the first leg, probly averaging 75-80 MPH on a mostly flat freeway. first stop, put 18 gallons in, trip odo said 283. I'm still learning the gas gauge. Climbed some hills on the second leg, played with the O/D switch. On the return trip, I kept my speed down, played with the cruise control. Filled it again with 18 gallons, odo said 317 miles. Last stretch, Cruise set at 1 MPH over the posted speed limit, filled with 18.1 gallons, 330 miles.
275/70 Michelin LTX M/S. Didn't need the A/C. Don't have a GPS. But if I can really get better than 18 MPG in this, I'm amazed and ecstatic.

Bought my first 80 Series Wednesday. A 1997 Land Cruiser 40th. Put a new set of 285/75/16 BFG AT's on it Thursday. We left our home in Ridgway, CO this morning and are on our way to Jackson Hole, WY. We've been thru 2 tanks today. Got 16.48 and 16.21. I'm a little impressed as we are loaded to the gills with geat for a photo shoot and we have been driving 70 constant with cruise on!

Recent trip to Mendocino got 15 mpg. Long trips at 55 mph make me feel better than the usual 13 mpg, which is 10 miles each way to work, and a 900 foot gain on the way there.
That makes me feel a lot better about paying more for a jdm diesel. 18 city and 23-25 hiway depending on speed, but I think it needs another gear in the manual tranny. Acutally got almost the same milage with the 36.5 because I was cuising @ 2300@60mph rather than 2600.

Im happy to get 11mpg with our 80 pulling our trailer. I haven't seen 15 since the day i drove it home.
