best dogs ever. my first pup was a shepard. they seem to have an inbuilt protecting instinct, especially towards kids
 
That first photo is a look I have seen many times before from my pal. It means she is thinking sassy and ready for trouble. I love black sheps. Nice looking pooch. My avaitar tells my story. This dog was all black except for four tan feet when we brought her home.

Our old shepherd is mostly tan. Both of this pup's parents are black, and she is black all over with the exception of about 5 gray hairs, so I don't think there is any chance of her turning tan like yours did.
