Vibration issues with my BJ 73 (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
Looking for some advice on identifying bad vibrations in my Bj 73 wagon.

So i recently had my exhaust repaired as it was rattling and came away from the flange mount. Had a flexi fitted and also a bracket to support the pipe on the engine. Pretty happy with the results although the rattling was still an issue. After inspecting underneath i found my transmission mounts were perished. I replaced that by jacking up the transmission and removing the cross member which went very smoothly. Upon starting the engine the vibration that rumbled through the whole car was insane. I then loosened all the bolts and started the engine again to let it settle in. This did help but i am experiencing some bad vibration issues when idle and also under acceleration.
Has anyone had any of the above issues and if so could you share your opinions and advice..

that is probably the reason for engine/transmission rubber mounts at least in your post it sounds to me like you just removed the transmission mount and set it down on the cross member without replacing the bad mount with a good one?

What is it idling at? 4 cyl diesel engines will shake the vehicle to bits if they are idling too low. I guess 700 would be the about the correct idle.

I'm assuming you replaced the gearbox mount? Your engine mounts may also need replacing, they are probably the originals.
When you drive, does the gearstick flop around or lean over as you accelerate?

Yes i installed new gearbox mounts. That's when the shaking started to be honest. The gear lever has been a lot tighter since doing it so it's not flopping about too much. I have upped the revs to 1000 as anything lower is pretty bad. Upon starting it cold today the shudder is even worse and is now present up through the gears. Would new engine mounts help much

Maybe it’s a fuel problem? Just thinking out of the box.

It certainly would if they are broken or have turned soft. You can check them by jacking the engine carefully. As the engine lifts you should be able to see any broken rubber.
I cant see any other reason why the engine would shake around so much.

This is an engine mount thread. There is a classifieds for parts wanted, but you will probably get one in Aust before you find one on an American forum.
