Short version: Take it to Slee.

Long painful version: Read through my ROTM.

You can take the driveshafts off one at a time and lock the centre diff to try and isolate the fault, my vibration was the rear most u joint, it had no play but a bit of stiffness on one axis. When the driveshafts are removed check for stiffness as well as movement. Mine is still AHC. The vibration was severe at times.

We have a winner! I just picked up the truck this afternoon. The shop was investigating whether or not drive shaft balancing efforts were required. They determined no balancing was needed. However there was "stiffness" in a U Joint. All U joints now replaced. Smooth as glass.

BTW: While at the shop this week, I also had the 2 motor and 1 transmission mounts changed while they were installing the DT headers. that might have helped a touch as well.

My 2001 LX470 is "new to me" again after 173K mile and 12 years since i bought it. i am as happy as can be.

Thanks for all the help fellow Ih8mud forumers.
