I have a 2005 LX 470 with the VGRS,VSC Trac and VSC Off Lights on. There is a VGRS Fault code C1289. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

Thanks

It’s snow season here. No rain. I have looked at the areas around the drivers and passengers foot wells and everything seems clean and dry. Including the fuse boxes.

I have done a battery disconnect and driven several thousand miles with the lights on. I did a battery load test and the battery is in good shape. The steering wheel is centered. I clear the code with a scan tool and the code immediately comes back. Very frustrating.

Just searched around quickly. It looks like if the light is on consistently but steering wheel is still centered, it is an issue with the system. Looks like some have had luck with a re-calibration of it and others have had to replace it for big $$.

May be worth trying to recalibrate it. There are how-to's online if you search "Lexus VGRS calibration"

DTC 1289 actually comes up under the ABS/VSC & Brake Assist system codes. It’s title is “VGRS Malfunction” for “VGRS control system abnormal”. The FSM directs you to check for VGRS DTCs using the Pre Check diagnostics instructions which I’ve posted in pdf before in one of the other VGRS threads. I’ll repost if you can’t find it. You can manually clear and extract VGRS codes if you follow the diagnostic process without Techstream, although having access to Techstream is invaluable for VGRS, AHC etc and makes life so much easier. What sort of diagnostic reader are you using? A generic reader may not reveal VGRS specific DTCs (C15xx) as they aren’t mainstream, whereas the C1289 code would probably come up on a generic ABS capable reader. Hopefully you can extract a VGRS specific code or two which will give you a starting point.

Edited to add VGRS pre check diagnostics procedure and zero point calibration

I am using a Snap-on Solus Pro scanner. Under the ABS section I get the code C1289 "VGRS Fault".
Thanks for your assistance. If you could repost the instructions I would really appreciate it. I would expect the Snap-on scanner to read these codes, but maybe its not.
