So today as I was driving (highway), my info screen said check VSC system, and 4-LOW light started flashing.

When I put my foot on the brake (no joke!) the gear position on the info screen disappeared (it shoes the shift pattern, but no dot or P, D, N etc.). The rear camera showed on the info screen and the mirrors dipped down like you were in reverse. I have a bike rack on the back and the park sensor started beeping.

I pulled over, turned off the car and turned it back on again, and I had a check engine light. What the hell!

I can repeat this EVERY time I put my brakes on, lol!

Seriously, I have THE worst luck with cars. And I'm nice to them!

Going to the shop tomorrow to fix the GPS wandering issue, get a new driveshaft, and now this "reverse when braking" issue.

Arrrgghhhh........

Dude I would not drive the truck unless it was going to the shop. Don't have a clue as to what the heck is going on!

Keep us informed.

They are actually replacing your driveshaft? Is that because of the clunk?

Yeah, it drives in D fine, just when braking "thinks" it's in reverse or something. Doesn't actually go into reverse, lol!

I'm not driving it till tomorrow morning, and that's directly to the shop.

I have a copy of the TSB, and it states that they are to replace the driveshaft and not simply re-oil/fix it, so they ordered it. It should be here by now.

That is very strange....I was just thinking that I would not want to take the chance if the tranny starts thinking like the navi and kicks it into reverse.

Can you scan and email me a copy of the TSB or at least the TSB number so I can keep it on hand incase.

Great info!

Let us know what they say!

PM me your email.

Here is a pic of the dash. Notice the gear indicator. It's not there! I'm in Drive, 4HI, making a left turn.

Hey I just noticed....only 1500 miles huh? Lightweight! I already have 16k!

Yeah, only 1.5K...and this problem??? WTF!!!

Having some experience with new Range Rovers, this is nothing new! Lol!

Can you do a 'hard-reset' of the computers in the 200-series? Check the manual. Switch everything off, lock and unlock a few times then restart and if you're lucky, everything should be back to normal.

If not, switch everything off then disconnect the battery. Wait 10s and reconnect. Try again - all warning lights may light up for a few seconds, but should go out.

If you don't try this, let us know what the shop says and how they fix it.

I'm intrigued.......

edit: not being funny, but check your exterior bulbs all work - especially the brake lights.

Such a range of things that could cause this; from loose battery connection to failure of ECU.

The way you describe though it sounds like a short or bad ground.

Hopefully nothing to horrible. Got me curious though.

I'm guessing it's a short somewhere. Something that activates with the brake pedal, such as tail lights, causing a false ground.

She went to the car hospital yesterday and I will call now to see how she is doing. :grinpimp:

This was me when it happened: :censor: :bang:
This was me a few hours later:  :hhmm:
This is me right now:  :wrench:
Hopefully this will be me in a few minutes:
And tonight: :steer:
And later on:

So what is the verdict???

So what is the verdict???

She just called me back from the dealership and:

1) They reset the LAN settings which now reports the "3D Hybrid" antenna status correctly
2) New drive shaft is installed
3) There was a DTC code which reported an unknown problem, but all the systems reset themselves I guess and it's back to normal. They just cleared the code and drove it around. Seems good now. Can't do much else till it happens again, but hopefully it never does.

I'm picking it up later and will report back :)

that sounds like good news. Glad to hear it wasn't something major.

Got her back.

She's smooth, no error lights, and I'm not driving to Africa anymore :bounce::bounce2::bounce:

I didn't tell you guys that a month ago I was driving, my tank was about 1/8th and my 200 died on the freeway?

Triple A sent me some fuel, restarted and drove off to the dealer. They kept the thing there for 4 days because some high toyota techs wanted to check this out. Now it doesn't do it anymore.

Maybe they used a highlander fuel tank with a LandCruiser gauge accidentally (just for you)

Oh...you deserved that one

That is your 200 getting you back for your INCORRECT signature!
